clouds

This week I went to Venice, which is one of the prettiest places I have ever been. I promise I will sort out my photos and pick out some of my favourites for you, but I wanted to show you some of the photos I took on the plane, as the landscape was stunning! x

tumblr.

I have to admit it, I've been lazily blogging the last few weeks (I haven't given up on you, promise!), but  realise that many of you may not realise that I have had a tumblr blog for a month or so, so I'm just quickly letting you know :) it is here: http://thelittleskylarkblog.tumblr.com/

I find it hard to blog a lot during the school terms as I am always busy and have a lot of work so I use tumblr a lot more now as a faster way of blogging. I re-blog and put some extra bits and pieces up there (I'm only a tumblr newbie remember) so if you want to find me if I haven't blogged here for a while, go take a look x

august favourites - products

Today as a quick post, I wanted to share a few of my favourite products this month and my friend Lauren (aka Kite) joined me, so here it is! We did half here and half on her new blog (!) so go and check that out afterwards (the link is at the bottom of this post)

My new (and by far favourite) product this month was Argan oil. It contains Moroccan oil and I use a few drops every 2-3 days after I wash my hair, and I rub it into the lengths of my hair. It makes it really soft and it smells gorgeous. You can find it here although I recommend looking in pound shops or bargain shops etc. as it is quite expensive and I managed to pick up a 30ml bottle for £1.

Lauren's product was the Bliss Instant Energising Mask. She uses it around once a week- whenever she feels tired or her skin feels dry. It is a foam that you need to leave on your skin for a few minutes and then wash off. It is great for the summer as it leaves your skin refreshed and moisturised. You can find it here.

My favourite face product is the Botanics Hydrating Night Cream. I use it in the evenings and I really like the packaging and also it sinks into your skin and isn't sticky which is always a bonus! It is also nice and affordable, and you can find it here

Lauren chose this Olay Essentials Day Cream. It is a very soft, gentle cream and is perfect for everyday use in the mornings. You can find it here.

Go check out the other half of this on Lauren's blog here
I hope you enjoyed this!

room snippets

Hello! I wanted to share some little snippets of my room today, as I thought it might be interesting and I always love to find and make things to decorate my room. These adorable alphabet stamps are from Tiger and were a bargain at £3!

This was a dreamcatcher I made for my window a while ago- I wanted to try tie-dying fabrics and lace and I think this gave it a really nice hippie, retro feel.

One thing about my room is that I own SO many books, and they are all crammed in wherever there is space- the embroidery was a DIY here, the candle and Rob Ryan mug were both gifts.

These old Penguin books have the most beautiful patterned covers and I picked them up at a school fair, for about 20p each. I also found a poem in one of them (by Shelley) called To a Skylark, so they (of course) were entitled to a place in this blog post haha.

I used to (and still do occasionally) collect shells and pebbles from various beaches I have visited, and I think that these small jars suit them perfectly, although they are already overflowing!

My sewing tin (which I did a blog post on here), idea book and blog book (!) The tin is an old biscuit tin from Borough market, London, the apple-y book is from the V&A shop and the third book is a notebook from Waterstones.

A few of my favourite necklaces and my wall of prints and postcards (DIY here) I'm not one for expensive jewellery- my initial necklace was from an Urban Outfitters sale, the bird necklace and the rose are from Accessorize and the beaded necklace was (apparently) a freebie from a book or toy of my sisters I think!

And finally, more jars... two full of beads and ink cartridges and one with pretty dried flowers in. These sit with two lovely candles from IKEA, which I have decided smell more delicious when they are not burning. Hope you enjoyed!
